Let every language into the room

A practical checklist for translated conversations that include every voice and preserve the important details.

The purpose of Live Translator is participation. A colleague should be able to follow the discussion without having to pretend they understood every word. A few shared habits make translated conversations clearer, especially when the team is making a decision together.

Before the call: choose and check

Ask participants which language they want to read. Check microphone clarity and use headphones where possible. Share the meeting’s purpose and any unfamiliar terms in advance. A short list of product names, customer terminology and acronyms gives everyone the same starting point.

All Zeff plans use the same available language selection. Your plan changes the translation allowance, not which teammates deserve to be understood. This website demonstrates scripted captions; real language coverage and quality depend on the connected speech and translation providers.

During the conversation: leave room to understand

Speak naturally, one person at a time. Break a long explanation into shorter ideas, and leave a moment for captions to catch up. If a translation seems unusual, compare it with the original and ask the speaker to rephrase. Do not treat a guessed translation as a confirmed agreement.

  • Say the name of a person or project clearly before using a shorthand.
  • Ask “What should happen next?” to check understanding of an action.
  • Invite written contributions when speaking over a group would be difficult.

After the call: check the decision together

Read back the decision, its owner and the deadline before the meeting ends. Keep the original context beside the shared note. For contractual, financial or other consequential wording, have the people responsible verify the meaning rather than relying on an unreviewed translation.

Review your allowance before a long workshop. Translation minutes reset monthly and have no automatic overage charges. If translation pauses at the limit, choose a higher allowance or plan a continuation after the reset.
